This may be easier than you think.

Do you have a breaker box close by the inverter?

Whether you have a breaker box or not, the concept is simple, and Newell kept it simple.

There will be a 120V Romex line from the breaker box in the closet that feeds the inverter.

There will be a 120V Romex line leaving the inverter that feeds all the 120V circuits powered by the inverter. If you have the breaker box mentioned above, that one should be easy to find.

The one from the breaker box in the closet should be close to the inverter location.

If you see two unidentified Romex lines. Plug the coach into shore power, look for the inverter breaker in the closet box, turn it on, use a voltmeter to see which of the two unidentified lines in the inverter bay is hot.

No need to try to figure out shore power vs generator. That is taken care in the automatic transfer switch that feeds the breaker panel in the closet. That all happens before the inverter gets involved.

I do not have a breaker box near the inverter but the Romex lines are there that's good info to know that its only line in and line out. The real question is what are all the pother wires that were cut?

whatever all these wires are is what i need to figure out. with it raining all day playing with power didn't seem smart. Ive got a line toner and all the attachments.

If not just to save some money i might but the Interstate battery brand 8D 190AH batteries since they cost about half as much.
Right now I've got the inverter and remote panel sitting in my garage while i read through the manual, trying to figure out how I'm supposed to pass the shore plug and the generator through it but I'm close to figuring it out

Carl if you have a voltmeter read the voltage of each battery if they are lead acid you might be able to rejuvenate them but if they AGM and below 12.2 volts they maybe permanently damaged. A good way to find out is if you charge the batteries and the current meter on the charger never goes to zero you have one of the batteries with a bad cell, in that case disconnect all the batteries from each other and read the voltage of each battery, the lowest voltage battery will be the culprit. Be careful using the MERGE switch in the front of the coach this can lead you to having both house and engine batteries dead. the only wires going to your inverter are AC in and AC out plus a big red wire going to the house batteries and a big black wire going to the ground of the coach, this wire will be grounded in the battery compartment behind the big switch in the battery compartment. All those other wires more than likely when to a echo charger that keeps the engine batteries charged from the house batteries which are charged from the inverter. From the looks of this you may need a electrician.

When I first saw the pic, I went oh no!

Those look like the colors of 12V wiring that Newell uses. That green is usually ground.

There are a couple of things to investigate. First thing I would do is activate everything 12V powered and see what doesn’t work. Second, look in the panel over the microwave and see if those colors feed a harness up there that provided info to the original inverter control panel.

I will take a look at mine today and get back with you, but no two Newells are alike.

I was thinking they were 12V wiring and probably went up to the main house panel with information. Its not pouring down rain today so I'm going to start working on this. Fixing the wiring wont be hard, a missing circuit board or relays that i never knew existed might not be good though.
As for the batteries they are 8D AGMs and i don't have to worry about them draining the chassis batteries, they cut those wires as well, that however is an easy fix. Thanks for the help thus far.
If any one has a 96 or early 97 that could take a picture right above their inverter it would be extremely helpful to my endeavor.
After the wiring issue is fixed ill move on to rebuilding the Aqua-Hot that had an relay melt wires on, should be some new parts and rebuild a harness myself.

Carl this is the picture of my 99 low voltage fuse panel which is located in the same Bay as where the inverter used to be. Also there are pictures of the little breakers that the inverter feeds and what they go to my inverter used to be right below that panel as you can see the indentation in the carpet.

This is super helpful. I was just sitting here drawing up my wiring thoughts.

Carl I sent you an email with my phone number, there are a few things in that fuse panel that shouldn't be mixed together as it would connect your house and your engine batteries if you were to wire them together. I would think the first thing I would do is get the house batteries hooked up. Then start working on rebuilding the fuse panel that was there. At some point you might want to give Newell a call and ask him if there are any diagrams for that area.

I've isolated the house and chassis battery cables. I did get your email with phone number. I'm in Anchorage Alaska. So time zones are funky.
