If it is of any help to the list I currently own a 1978. I will attempt to post a picture of the tag.

Thank you, I appreciate the additional information. From the VIN Plate, you have a Cummins triple nickel unless it has been changed out. Do you have the 5 speed Allison or a 6 speed Allison? I have seen 1978 Newells listed both ways. Love to see photos of your '78.

It does have the 555 with the 5 speed Allison. I purchased it out of an estate in WA state. By receipts it lived in Arizona, California, and Ohio. It has 78k on it and has survived well.

2004 model year (calendar year 2003) was a good year for Newell.  Although model year 2007 was a record breaking 44 coaches.  Valid slides were introduced during the 2003 model year with most coaches after 661 having Valid slides.  671 (designated a 2004 model) was the first Newell with the steerable tag and was thoroughly tested out by Karl Blade and the Newell staff for months prior to beginning general implementation.  You are correct that a number of Newells were built particularly in 2007 and 2008 with a front mounted 15KW generator.  Many of those built with a 20KW generator, were built with the generator mounted in a driver's side bay further back.  By the 2009 model year, 20KW nose mounted generators again returned to predominance.
Michael, I have 660 and it has Valid slides.. just wanted tons date your list

Thanks Ron. I love your coach. I looked at it back in 2010 when Newell had it for sale.

I will correct my post from 2014 since I now know that all Newells after 649 had Valid slides in addition to 645 which was the first one with Valid slides but 646-649 still had HWH slides.
