Found a coach to buy, but….
#21

Holland Motor Homes has indeed been there a long time. I was born and raised in Holland, and they were the "go to" place for many years. My family has had many high end coaches repaired there over the years.

My more recent experience there, however, has been less than perfect. Something must have changed for the worse.
I am shocked they cannot find the parts. They have been working on Newell's and Prevost Buses for decades.

If it were my coach, I would not have the slide seal done there.

I can recommend other shops in the area for brake work if for some reason they cannot get it done. Hopefully it all works out for you.

By the way, I believe I saw your coach roll in to their
place. I was in the parts department at the time. Nice looking coach!

Not my coach yet… but does not look like there will be anymore issues. Not sure why the service was lacking and as someone already stated there are always at least two sides to every story. As a cop for 26 years I always said 3 sides! Party one’s, party 2’s and the actual truth! I was getting most of my information from the seller, so my impression was second hand. I own personal experience was limited to one call last Monday to Holland when explained I needed to get airfare and was wanting an update on any possible backorders on the parts. The service manager I spoke to was very nice and understanding to my plight. My thought was a simple phone call on their side to their supplier was all that was necessary and I would hear back by the end of the day. With no word until Thurs the seller finally called again. I’m sure they are busy, but it is my understanding the seller did not just show up there and want work completed immediately, he scheduled an appointment 3 weeks in advance. Anyway, sounds like a lot of todo about nothing! On a side note, why would you not have had the slide seal installed there? It’s my understanding they have done several.

I say that only based on a gut feeling. My last experience there left me underwhelmed - like perhaps they were losing experience and expertise.

Hopefully your and the current owner's experience is much better.

Well, I’m very excited to enter the Newell community, I hope there will be no more roadblocks.

We are happy to have you. We rolled through Caldwell/Boise about two weeks ago, before you posted Nampa as home base. I am sorry that we did not get to meet you.

one last comment on slide seals. me and whoever owned the coaches that came here and my own have done 5 salon slide seals and one bedroom one here at my place. one of them was a salon slide seal that an unexperienced shop did with a forklift and they caused problems it took us a few days to fix. i have spent hours on the phone with an experienced bus mechanic that was doing a slide seal for a fellow on this forum that took several days. he did it with a forklift as well. (i have a slide cart made just for this).

as i have found out, each one is different and i do mean each one is different. how to take the inside trim off, how to get at things, etc. do you put jackstands under the coach or not etc.

that doesnt mean this place cant do it. it just would make me wonder. i am guessing there are probably only a handful of places that have done newell slide seals on the hwh setups.

They said they have done them before, but then again they said they would call me with parts info so I could book my flight and that never happened! Who knows?!?? It’s kinda out of my hands. I’m sure the seller regrets his choice at this point, but all spilt milk!
