Oil Transfer Pump
#1

Has anyone installed an oil transfer/scavenge  pump? My father had one on his boat, which made doing oil changes extremely easy. If anyone has or has done this, what make and model did you get? I'm looking for something that can be permanently installed.

When I changed my oil I added this valve to the oil pan and the transfer pump is a Tilton oil transfer pump which is like the one I had in our boat many years ago. Makes oil changed very easy, you'll need a double throw double pole center off switch so you can reverse the flow of the pump or just swap the neg and positive leads on the battery. Keep a couple empty 5 gallon oil buckets on hand.

Jack,

Thank you, the Tilton seems much cheaper than the reverso I was looking at.

Is that the Tilton 40-527 or the Tilton 40-524?

I think it's the tilton 524, the case that had the nomenclature on it has been missing for probably 15 years or more but looking at the picture the 524 looks like the one that I have. Truly any positive displacement pump would work the only problem is the rubber impeller on most of the water pumps would probably deteriorate over time, the tilton pumps I believe are brass geared pumps although I've never had this one apart it just keeps on working.
