Closed the deal and picked up our new (to us) 1992 38 footer, #300. Flew from SC to Twin Falls, I'D on Friday and started my solo journey home on Saturday. Wow, I am so impressed and pleasantly surprised. This is day 4 (2,100 miles so far) and I will finally be home tomorrow. This Newell has been awesome and it is a beast. I can't get over how well it has performed in all of varying terrains. It was really windy coming across Nebraska and Missouri yesterday but she did great. since I took the northern route and missed a lot of mountains so tomorrow may prove to be the most challenging leg of the trip as I roll between Knoxville, TN and Ashville, NC, through the Great Smokey Mountains.
Cindy is so excited to see it. Needless to say, she is a bit jealous that I got to go pick it up by myself and complete the maiden voyage without her. She is giving me a break this weekend but we are off to Myrtle Beach the following weekend.
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions and for all of the support. A special shout out to Tom, as he just spent the last hour listening to me ramble on about this trip.

Glad your trip has went well your 92 will do great in those N.C. Mountains i have traveled that route many times from Nashville Tn. Over to South Carolina where i have family and a business in my 1991 i owned for 8 years. I just sold her and now own a 2004 coach 707. Newell coach and Service are the Best. I have a brother in East Tn that runs a shop for Clarke power Kingsport Detroit diesel. Your 92 will serve you well Enjoy!

Hi Everyone, So I did make it home yesterday but I just didn't have time to update y'all. I spent most of the rest of the day/evening going through everything with my wife. She is very excited our new adventures.
The trip was 99.9 % awesome. The .01% negative comes from the horn getting stuck. I had a situation where two vehicles in front of me decided to try and merge together (too long to explain all of the details) and I had to lay on the horn to let them know that they were not by themselves. What happened next was a real joy. I took my hand off the horn but the horn did not stop blowing. It wasn't a constant sound but more like a blast, pause, blast, pause. Traffic was quite heavy and I was bout 7 miles from the nearest exit, which may have been amongst the longest 7 miles of my life. Anyway, I finally got off the road. My first instinct was to shut everything down and that the horn would stop. Nope, it just kept right on going. In the end I pulled the fuse and it stopped.
Now that was strange enough, but it gets a bit stranger, or at least perplexing. Please bare with me, I'm a little long winded. When I got home, I realized that the fuse that I pulled is also the one for the 12V power source (used to call them cig. lighters). I figured this out because my cell phone was dead. At that point I called Tom for some sage advice and as I am telling him my story, he started laughing and then I started laughing. What a hoot. He suggested that maybe if I was able to pull up the center cap logo on the steering wheel that there might be access and it was possible that the contacts were somehow stuck. I got my handy dandy little flat head screwdriver and wedged it under the edge label, pulled it up little to only find out that it has adhesive and that there was no access under it. So I stuck it back in place and decided not to mess with anything until this weekend.
So after showing everything to my wife, we headed for the storage facility. This was my first time really going through the shutdown process. I did everything that I thought I was supposed to do and then turned the battery switches off so as not to have any drain. Then I remembered that I forgot to activate the bay door locks from inside the coach. I hit the switch but nothing happened, which I immediately determined that nothing would happen because I had turned off the battery disconnects. I reengaged the switches and went back in the coach to activate the bay door locks. This is when I noticed the little blue light coming from the USB adapter that I had plugged into the cig. lighter. If you recall from earlier in this long winded story, I didn't have any 12V power when I pulled the fuse. Now I have 12V power and I hadn't put the fuse back in. So that part is still a mystery to me. I decided to reinstall the fuse to see if the horn would start blasting again. Low and behold, it did not. I tried the horn and it functioned just like it was supposed to (push and get a horn blast, release and no horn).
So my question is this. Does anyone have a clue why I lost my 12V power at the cig. lighter when I pulled the horn fuse and then why when I reengaged the battery disconnect switches, I had 12V back without installing the fuse? Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say. Thanks

Was this your air horn or "city" horn? There might be a switch on the dash somewhere to switch from air horn to city horn.

it was the city horn and the switch didnt make any difference....

I would replace the horn relay as a precaution.

Is it possible that the "intruder alarm" went off? Fran activated ours on a New Years when I had stayed a little later than her in the casino at Rt 66 in Albuquerque. As luck would have it, I had left my cell in the coach. the guy in the space next to us was a mechanic and wasa ble to unplug wire at the horn in front end of the coach. I missed out on all the excitement but did win $40.00 playing black jack.
