we stayed down there a few years ago and saw them as well. it is interesting that there are wild ones just in that area.

And protected at that. My Mom told me that the Burros would come by and eat the fermented dates. They would get a bit drunk on the dates and get a little crazy kicking the dumpsters and such.
It is cool to think that there would be an area that these wild Burros could survive, really do need to be careful driving around though.

Watch out for the drunk jackasses, four legged or less.
In Idaho this summer the campground had choke cherry trees in our site. The birds were eating the fermented berries. One morning I had 6 fly into the same window in a half hour.
