On my way home from Denver to Tulsa I had a warning on my DDEC Pro Driver. (TPS Circuit Fail Low) it also had Check engine light on. What does this mean and how do I fix it? Should I worry, will my engine shut down or blow up? Thanks for your help. My unit is #516, 1999, I have just over 100,000 miles

hi bob,
here is what i think on this. be sure to get other opinions.
tps is throttle position sensor. the tps is your throttle pedal. it is mounted on the underside of the pedal. with a tps error code, it should not shut your engine down or even depower. however, if it is intermittant enough, it can cause your throttle to go to idle no matter what you do with the pedal. if running vmspc it should show error code 94.
series 60's are know for having bad tps's. however, before you replace it, you should check all the connections from the pedal back and make sure they are clean and not corroded.
if you do a search on tps series 60 you will find a number of people having issues and it was a mixture of bad connections and the sensor itself.
i dont think you have to worry about anything blowing up, but rather just losing throttle control.
any other thought from the gang?

Thanks Tom,
I've been reading a bit more on the subject. Some thinks it could have something to do with the cruise control, and I had it on when it happened. I didn't notice any loss of power. Is the fuel pedal mechanical or some kind of remote control?

the throttle pedal is electronic.
check all your connections.

Typical voltage at the pedal is 5v. If you check at the pedal connection and you've got anything less, even slightly, check the wiring before you replace anything.

OK gang new problem, I've stopped in a rest area for lunch. I've turned the key off my rpm still reads 5000 and speed is about 40 mph, sure sounds like I have a big problem, any ideas.

Hmmmmmmm, i would say you have an electrical connection problem. Since it is affecting more than one parameter I would suspect a bad ground. Check grounds on engine and battery. Wouldn't hurt to disconnect connections at ddec , clean, and reconnect.
