If you have an infrared temperature gun you can check the temp at the radiator core.

Got it will do. My mechanic told me today he thinks we should replac the gauges so we know for sure and that they are ready parts so should not be bad at all. I will use the gun to check the new gauges though.

My generator runs about 160 when it it not too hot outside, but it is hot outside and both AC's are running then it gets up to 180.

I would like to suggest that one checks the Gauges prior to Condemning them! Easy task just an extra step.
