Alaska
#1

We are in the consideration stage of going to Alaska maybe next year.
Wondering if anyone has taken their newell there.
We are also considering not taking the newell but something small enough to tow behind the Toyota FJ cruiser.
Any input is appreciated.

First buy the milepost mag. Tell u what is located along the hwy. I drove it years ago when it wasn't paved in a Winnebago. Lived there for several years. You'll love it.

The milepost is on my resource list. Wondering how the crime is with folks that camp in the boonies.

Brad,
I drove from TN to Fairbanks and down to Homer in 1985 in a chevy conversion van. If I had not got on a ship in Skagway for the return to Vancouver I would have been really disappointed. Unless you have seen all of the Lower 48 and the east and west coast of Canada I would only go to Alaska on a cruise ship. I do not fish or hunt so nothing tripped my trigger on the long drive. We also went to Denali National Park. My recommendation is to see all the lower 48 and lower Providences of Canada and cruise to Alaska.

We did Alaska for 6 months in 2008 if you want any info on the trip PM me with your questions... NO problems at all, except some sleeping in 24 hour sunshine in the summer months.

Thanks Ron. That is an interesting point I will have to consider.
Wondering about the bugs, the deer flies in particular. Can folks sit outside without being bothered?

Brad, You might want to check, but I remember no handguns in Canada... Others were ok.. but check.. fishing poles are required!!! If you go to Fairbanks this place is nice http://www.riversedge.net/fairbanks-RV-park.htm

Brad,
P.S. Never any real bug problems except when by rivers camping and shotguns were OK then.
