My 12V compressor hasn't worked since i got the coach. I'm just about finished with rebuilding my Aqua hot and thought since the compressor is right there i should deal with that while i wait for parts. I figured I'd take out the 12V compressor. I undid the airlines and cut the wires with enough to splice back into and proceeded to google. Mine is a Thomas compressor and costs about 975 at Grainger.  To which i thought... wonder what's wrong with mine and took the whole thing apart. Piston wasn't seized, so i cleaned everything up, applied a drop of oil to ease reassembly and ... still nothing! darn! Took the rear cover off the electric motor and saw the positive contact was corroded. Cleaned that up reassembled the motor and... Success! Purrs like new! Fresh coat of paint and ready for install in the morning! 

Sorry i didn't take step by step pictures but here's a few i did take. 

For anyone that may have the same compressor Grainger sells a rebuild kit for 185 is comes with a piston and new O rings and filter and intake an exhaust reeds. It did not look like the kit had brushes or contacts.

It's a good idea to fix everything that is located outdoors while you have time as winter is coming. I get a bag of popcorn when I see your new post but this one is short. Smile

nice. yea the thomas and jun-air compressor are meant for commercial use and are overpriced in my opinion. and usually easy to fix

i have also had luck finding new ones that were used in other configs and got them cheap and repurposed them.

Air compressor was installed today. trial run without touching anything else air related yielded just shy of a 90 minute time between air cycles. Not bad i thought. I also started to wonder if i could let it run by bypassing the pumptroller and air up the entire coach with it??? Might test this theory tomorrow.

How's the coach holding up air bag wise? If you level it is it the same level a couple days later?

My driveway is at such an extreme angle I had to use blocks to avoid scraping to back it in. Once I had it where it was going to sit i just dumped the air. I haven't tried to air it back up since then. I was more curios about how that little compressor was plum ed into the system. Like if there was a separate tank for it with check valves so it doesn't burn itself up trying to fill so much air.

What ever you do make sure it doesn't exceed the air bag max pressure, I sure you know this but a friendly reminder as top notch Newell guy told me how they sound when they explode.

The short answer is there is a check valve on top of the little ping tank in the passenger drive tire well. The 12V pump will not provide air to the suspension. Air doors, pottie(s), and slide seals are the things it will provide air to.

Perfect, thank you. i just managed to build enough air to get the gen to slide out. I was having trouble building air. Turns out the 110v compressor output check valve fell apart and was letting all the air go out from there. Couple zip ties solved the problem for today. Ill go get one tomorrow and fix it right.
On the bright side the Gast compressor works!
