Mid entry door steps to not extend?
#1

Is there a way on a late model, mid door coach to not have the entry steps extend automatically when you open the door?

I know how to keep the steps out all the time, but I want the opposite. When I pull in to get fuel, I am always worried the steps will extend into the pump base on the passenger side (and take paint).  I am willing to jump down to get out, if I can keep the steps in.

Thanks
Chuck

Yep. Look for a switch at the switch panel. Should be a three way rocker switch.

What is considered a late model? 1482 with Silverleaf has no switch to allow the requested operation that I am aware of.

Chuck, It will be much easier for the gurus to help you if you include the year and number of your coach in your signature. No two Newell’s are alike but the systems are similar within a series.

On 316 there is a switch on the panel just inside the door. Flipping the switch (labeled “step”) while the door is closed and the step is retracted prevents the step from deploying. I realize my coach is much older. Hopefully yours has a similar set up or a guru with a coach more contemporary to yours will chime in.

Welcome Chucksweet, did you call Newell? With owning a current model (congrats) they should be able to tell you whatever you need to know for the steps.

Thank you,

I did not call Newell because I thought all the knowledge was here-Smile I hated to bother them with such a trivial question.

Yep, sadly I don’t have that switch.

I've never toggled that switch while the door is closed and step retracted. I'll give that a try when I get back to it in a couple of days.
I wonder how the ignition on may affect operation when the switch is set in the sequence you provided.
