Looks like I will be replacing airbags on 316. Newell has them priced at $750/ each. I’m wondering if any Gurus have found a better price? The part # they gave me is 16226.

Although our coach is much older than yours, we recently replaced the front four bags, after replacing the rear bags during a breakdown 2 years ago. We paid dearly for the rear bags, but were broken down with a blown bag, and no position to negotiate. We got our front ones at one fourth the price. The front ones came from a truck parts co that provided Automann bags. They converted the part number from our existing Firesone part number Our mechanic, " The Bus Grease Monkey" in Tennessee was doing the work, but he had us order these specific bags. So far so good, and the best part was the bags were 119.00 each. Hard to believe.
For those of you with a "classic" the front air bags ours uses are Automann AB1DK23F-9307
Still looking for bags. One supplier did a cross check and sent me continental bags that weren’t even close. the Firestone # is w01- 358-9447 for the front bags.

I’m not home but if you can wait a little, I can get you the stock number mine use. I believe we have the exact same parts. It was a Goodyear part. What makes it harder to find is the 3/4” hole that Newell uses for the air cushioning.

The link I provided shows a bag with a 1" npt threaded hole in the top offset to one side.
Well I never did find the correct bags. In addition to the Continental bags which didn't work, the shop owner and I both tried for several days to contact SDtruck springs. They never answered the phone and didn't return VM. I did a little online research.... It appears they are struggling ... Some guys who ordered online never got their order and had to pursue a forcible refund. I had two other friends who are in the heavy truck service business who all came up "snake eyes" as well.
My coach had been setting on jack-stands for several days so I had to order from Newell. They over-nighted them. The bags have the 1/4" port but my mechanic plumbed them to the ping tank with 3/8" DOT air line. I've only driven it 20 miles back home. It seems a little firmer on the front axle. I'm not sure if that is because of the smaller air lines or just because of the bags being new and probably stiffer.

Well 316 has all new air springs. My buddy owns a truck repair shop . He found Automann bags for the drive and tag axles. The drive axle bags have three differences. The mounting studs are 1/2” closer together, the air fittings are smaller and the bags don’t have internal bump stops. Chris slightly modified the holes on the coach to accept the mounting studs. He also replaced the external bump stops on the coach frame with longer ones. When lowered the rear tires rested on the rear wheel openings since I got it. Not good. I think that is because this coach was fitted with 24.5” wheels when new. The longer bump stops allow 1/2” clearance at the wheel openings.

I still need to have the fuel lines replaced. Hopefully your friend will still be interested in doing so?! By the way, I added steel bar stock to my existing chassis stops at the rear with no ill consequences. Tires no longer push out the fender flares. Yes, the tag axle bags are different from the remainder.
