Cooktop & convection oven
#1

We have. 2-burner cooktop - I hate saying this -- it's great for boiling water but not for cooking, so got a very nice electric skillet - and already know I will use it a lot! I don't care for the convection/microwave but getting used to it. I think there's a piece missing whch enables you to bake without using the turntable so I need to look into replacing that piece. I tried baking in a rectangular pan but it wouldn't rotate due to its size and shape, so one side was over cooked. Anyone else have these issues, or is it me? I will copy this post to the "ladies" section too.

Is that the Gaggenau Induction cooktop? I know it takes special pans... Is it because it's recessed, that it makes it less useful? Just curious...

Yes Gaggennau. Burners too close together and if using both burners it's easy for pan to bump arm that holds up the corian cover up and it comes flying down - what a mess and is dangerous. More useful if not recessed. Thanks for commenting. Any thoughts on the oven?

There should be a Baking grill to replace the Glass Plate and there should be A flat black tray.. See your manual it should show that or go on http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_...iterature/ and get one... Hope this helps..

I did not see a Baking grill in the owner manual or on line, but did see the black tray which I ordered today at a ridiculous hefty price. Thanks for your input!

I can visualize that.. You may want to consider a surface mount, Newell uses this also http://www.cookwithkenyon.com/collection...tops/touch One of the models also has a ring that raises up to hold the pan in place.. Your counter could be modified to suite... Next time at Newell you should discuss.. Unless of course.. your handy... Angel

I replaced our convection microwave because I wanted a larger oven, a stronger (higher wattage) microwave, and 'newer' functions.

Because our bus was older it had to fit this space:
19" deep (maybe 20")-26" wide (maybe 2 1/4 more?)-18 1/2" height (to fit over Gaggennau double gas burner) so..it took some looking but we found the HMB8050 - 800 Series Built-In Microwave - Stainless Steel. http://www.bosch-home.com/us/products/mi...rce=browse

It is 1.5 cu. ft. with 1,000 Cooking Watts, Convection Cooking, 10 Power Levels, Sensor Cooking, 15" turntable, Touch Control but the best part is it defrosts, bakes with convection air, then microwaves, and then turns into a warming oven....or it can just be used as a warming oven. It works as well or better than my home microwaves\convection ovens\gas ovens. It is large enough to hold a pizza stone and works really well. [eBay direct retailer had it $300 less than market but that was in 2012 so they are even cheaper now.]

I also bought a single convection oven that fits on top of the Gaggenau gas burner if necessary....

FYI, if we replaced the instant hot water with one that can yes, boil water at 212 degrees (water boils at an even lower temp in higher altitudes) but we keep it around 205 degrees....

Feel free to email me a private email if you want more detail and REMEMBER>>>check your electrical, inverter, capability...you should be fine with a 2008 but we put in an inverter that gives us a pure sine wave instead of a modified sine wave....I know, more than you wanted to know..... Smile

Oh, yes...they now make SILICONE pans, yes pans, that work for the microwave and for the convection oven for baking. And, they are lightweight and several fold up!! http://www.mastrad.us/art.php?id=576
