Air leak at bottom of water separator???
#1

Hi Gurus.....I had 599 (2001) out last night, temps got down to mid 20’s. Drive home this morning, parked it back in the heated Toybox (garage) and all seemed well. Now a few hours later I notice air leaking out of the bottom of this unit, see picture. Any advice???

Bryan,

It looks like the bottom of that has a valve that can use drain the water. I guess that it could have loosened a little and let air out. Try to tighten the grey part.

Also, the clear part is prone to cracking. Some have taken apart and fixed cracks ... but I would buy a new one.

For what its worth.

Bill, thanks for your reply.......the air leak is coming from the bottom of the vent (all the way at bottom of the unit). Said leak will stop by covering it with my finger. I’ve already loosened/drained it, but no change.

Hi Bryan I had the same problem turned out to be the O ring around the removable cylinder. I ordered 3 of them and then I found the same unit at I think at harbor freight for $14, So now I have 2 extra o rings and a spare separator.

I am guessing from the photo that the separator is for the 115 ac compressor. I recently had a problem like yours. I got a separator from Home depot, replaced the unit and haven't had any problems. Mine was partially blocked and it wasn't letting the tank fill. after some troubleshooting with Richard, found the blockage and leak..We don't look at that area close enough.
