Aqua Hot
#1

Well now, coach would not warm up this morning, so I discovered thet there was no heat coming from the Aqua Hot vents... The rinky dink heat exchanger's motor had frozen up. I checked on their site, and a new one only costs 529.00 for one that is made out of plastic. I guess I may as well bite the bullet, and replace the whole assembly. One of the blower wheels is broke, so by the time I buy a motor and fans, I should get the complete assembly. I hope my Newell stops causing headaches for me...

John,

I am not sure what vintage your coach is...but it occurred to me that there may be more to your problem. My coach has several heat exchangers run from the aqua hot. If just one failed would that keep your whole coach from warming up? When I have asked about this at Newell...they say that the valves (or pumps) just above the webasto are notorious for "freezing up". They say that you should lightly hit them with a hammer to get them going. I am not sure that the heat exchanger fan will work if the rest of the system is not working.

Also, I have a separate electric heat system. Does your coach have that?

Cheers,
bill

My coach also has electric Cadet heaters, but the 12 Volt motor froze up in the Heat exchanger...I am going to order a new one tomorrow..

Just for clarification: Don't hit the circulation pumps with a hammer, even lightly. You lightly hit the brass check valves that are right above the pumps. It is the check valves that get stuck, not the pumps. One of the three check valves is circled in red.

John:
What year model is your coach? What model Aquahot?
Have you looked at Roger Berke's site, rvhydronicparts.com?
Roger may have the squirrel cage you need and the motor is $122.

I finally got somebody at Aquahot that is sending me a new motor, and new set of blower wheels. Everybody else wanted to sell me the complete unit for the tune of 500 plus dollars. This way I get out for 150.00. Sweet...

Installed new motor, and wheels, put everything back together, and turned it on. Motor not running...yikes...Checked fuse, and it was blown. It must have blown when the old motor froze up. Staying warm again....
