Since we are now fulltiming we have to decide between Dishnetwork local channels and calling each time we enter a different spotbeam area, or signing up and paying for distant networks through All America Direct.
Our plans are to travel into new areas every month or so, so could have to call and change the local channels every day or two until we settle in for a month.
Anybody doing this now?
Opinions?
Thanks
Forest, while we have DirecTV, it is the same issue.....we can choose either east coast feed, west coast feed, or even both, but we have stayed with west coast feed. The downside is prime time starts at 11pm for us, so we just use the DVR to record shows, and watch them the next night, or when we have time. Still nice to get Los Angeles stations and see what is going on locally once and a while. Not really interested in local, or regional news where we happen to be at any given time.

We only have 1 receiver, so can only record 1 show at a time. That's why we're thinking of getting both coast feeds.
See you Thursday. Save a sunset or 2 for us.

Hey Forest, I added a second receiver a week or so ago. It has helped to let each of watch what we want.

Hey Forest....I'm not sure what you mean by "We only have 1 receiver, so can only record 1 show at a time"....I only have one DVR receiver, but can record two shows at one time as long as I'm not watching a third channel. Works out well with west coast feed as we are usually asleep when the recording is going on...... I just have to use both LNB pickups on the dish and run the two cables to the back of the DVR. We just watch the recorded shows when we have time. Have gotten over watching "live" TV. We could change to east coast feed, but it's really better this way....fits our "written in Jello plans" way of living now.

Our in-motion dome won't work with a dual tuner receiver. Tried one and it wouldn't lock on. We can only see 1 sat. At a time 110 or 119. So even if we put another receiver in the bedroom it wouldn't work. Spending the night in Quincy, FL.

Forest, you are serious about only getting 110 and 119? NO HD. 129?

What I used in conjunction with my in motion is a Winegard SK-3005 TRAV'LER Gray DIRECTV Slimline KA/KU Multi-Satellite TV Antenna which you can purchase from Amazon Price $1,449.99 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping. I mounted with a multiple switch and ran ran dual cable on the roof to the bedroom and living room and went through A&B switch to the basement. This way I can feed 3 dual tuners to record or watch at any location. I now only watch H/D which is through the Winegard and can be recorded to watch when the coach is in motion. I hardly ever use the in motion dish and just watch recorded show.

We do not have one of them new fangled DVR thingies or HD thingy or In Motion thingy. Simple Direct TV but 2 Receivers! Low Tech all the way!!!
