Fellow Gurus:
Please help me help a friend with an answer to his question.
Question today is a older newell with a 8V92 has a model 68 air dryer that is no longer available...what is the preferred choice replacement?
Thanks - Russ

I believe Jon (77Newell) replaced his with a newer model. Hopefully he'll jump in soon.

there are rebuild kits available at fleetpride. at least there were a few years ago. much cheaper and easier.
think it was like 30 bucks and was easy to do. i did it on my 90
but it was quite a while ago
you might check into it. they do work ok

The 77 coach had no dryer when I bought the coach. Following a scary episode on slippery roads with suspected ice in the air brake system I went with the AD-9 for reasons too distant to remember.
When I acquired Forest's 93 coach I found water in the service tank downstream of the Brakemaster dryer, ergo the switch to the proven, by my personal experience, AD-9. I have since found no moisture in the tanks. Yes, the AD-9 does require an element change every few years, but at about $65 it's cheap compared to what can happen with iced brakes.
