Docking light rubber cover
#1

On my coach, it appears I have 4 1/4  diameter landing lights for docking lights. They are held in a white rubbery waterproof cover. As I was trying to remove a burned out light from the rubber cover, it ripped. Tons of replacement bulbs available, but the rubber boot is really what I need.

Do any of you have a source, or even know what this cover would be called?

If not, OK. I'll try to use standard grommet mounts.

Richard, try to find a stop light / tail light led style complete with rubber mount from a trailer supply store or parts house. They may only be available in black. Some good sized high end truck stops may also have them.

If you have to use the black grommet here is a way to take it up a notch!

Clint,

I found a white LED trucklight that I am using for a replacement. It is "sealed", so I may be able to get by with the grommet. The protective boot was a good idea, since the light gets a shower every time you drive in rain.

Hmmmm, it's official name is closed back grommet cover. No wonder none of the terms I used resulted in a google hit.

Richard,
I'm trying to fix my burned out landing light. I have it out, but I am not sure if I can simply remove the light from the rubber boot, to replace a bulb or do I need a new light? I'm apprehensive about trying to remove the light from the boot, as I don't want to rip it. Do I need just a bulb, or a new light? Thanks!

Well......

You have to take the bulb out of the grommet to replace the bulb light. If it doesn’t rip, you only need a bulb.

If it rips, then you will have to source a replacement light assembly.

I don’t know what else to say. I used a white LED light from a truck supply. Looks good, but not nearly as effective as the landing lights used originally.

Thanks Richard,
I"ll try to heat it up the boot to get the light out. Then try to match the light beam?
I called Newell, they have the light/boot assembly for 156.99
But like you, I like to save money if possible and source it myself!
Thanks again Brother!

Problem solved!
I was able to remove the rubber boot from around the landing light without tearing it! Then to my surprise, the bulb was exactly the same front running light bulb as on my Harley Fatboy, of which I just happen to have a bag full of them! So, luckily, I did not have to order one from Newell for 156.00. This one was a rare "no cost" repair. I like that. Thanks again, for the heads up Richard!
