Classic coach number

We had a broken mirror on a shallow storage cabinet door in the bed room. The cabinet is similar to a bathroom medicine chest. A case of Newell giving us every inch of storage they can. After removing the old mirror, underneath it is this. Could this be the illusive coach number? Or is it telling me I have at least that many doors and drawers in the coach? BTW, if you ever wondered how Newell got that great double edge bevel on the mirrors of the classic coaches, they actually used two mirrors, one on top of the other, the bottom being just 1/64th larger that the top one. Amazing craftsmanship. If you already knew this please forgive me, as every project is an adventure. I feel like Harrison Ford!

Looks like it. I show that 59 was a 1984 coach number. Do you mind sharing the last two digits of your VIN which would have been the Newell model year sequence number. If you would prefer, you are welcome to PM me.

I think the original owner was a Mr. Stodmeyer? I think Todd Flickema has some info on him, as this was his coach. Todd did all the hard work and I am replacing mirrors.  I might have messed up Mr. Stodmeyers name. I believe I was told that he had several Newells built over the years. One  thing i know for sure. He did not like to fuel up his coach. Total diesel capacity is 525 gallons. The Gurus tell me not to leave the tanks empty.  So $1200.00 Costco here I come  Smile

525 gallons - - - I'm jealous.
I'd love to have another 225 gallons of diesel !
I don't like having to stop for fuel - especially in unfamiliar areas.

Besides, the longer it is between fill-ups, the easier it is to get over how much it cost the last time. LOL

This was written on the back of one of my valence panels....My Newell was built for the Steve Miller Band.

525gallons! Wow, I don't think I could sit down for a trip that long any more! At 8mpg that would be over 4000 miles!

But think about how nice it would be to stop with no concern about getting fuel - Just stretching legs . . .
Oh, how nice it is to walk outside the coach without having to walk thru diesel fuel.

Fuel is typically cheaper in SC than in FL, so it is nice to save a little where I can since those opportunities are few & far between.

I am thinking about removing the 2nd tank ( approx 200 gal ) I could gain some storage space
