We are on the "Pick" team. We use hand held scanners and the scanner tells us what to pick and from where. We then put it in a "tote"....a large plastic box, if you will. When the "tote" is full we place it on a conveyer belt where it goes to the people who box it up, either as an individual order, or as part of a multiple order, but we have no idea which when we pick it.

It is a rainy day in Campbellsville.....started around 3am last night, and continues unabated even now. First long term heavy rain since Thibodaux, LA way back in late February. After a summer like weekend it is back to winter. Visited Maker's Mark Distillery yesterday to take the tour, and taste their Bourbon. We actually took the hard top off the T'Bird for the day it was so nice, even knowing we would want to have it back on when "winter" returned....
We are entering our 6th week of our gig at Amazon. In the next couple of weeks we will go to mandatory five 10's as the Xmas season ramps up, and at some point Amazon will offer, on a voluntary basis, a 6th day of 10 hours.....not sure we're up for that, but we'll see when the time comes. The 5th 10 hour day will be paid at time and a half, of course, as will the 6th if we accept it.
Having a good time, and making new friends. Our work week schedule changes this week from Tuesday thru Friday, to Wednesday thru Saturday. When the 5th 10 hour day is added it will be Tuesday thru Saturday.

Just watched "Sonia" a picker in the Amazon warehouse walk a Bloomberg journalist through the warehouse and show him the system as to how you pick and then take your bucket to the conveyor belt
He asked Sonia how many miles in a shift she walked and she replied "a lot"
Sounds like you are going to stay in great shape !!

We walk around 10-12 miles per 10 hour shift.....but we are used to it now....takes a couple of months of pain to get used to it.

With plans to spend the next 2 months in Lake Havasu City (Refuge Resort) the owner calls on Friday, and says it not ready! But will pay for me to stay in Vegas until sites are approved. I was already 2 weeks in vegas and ready to bail.....After speaking with my dad, who is 85 and lives near me in Louisiana. I fueled-up and headed East. 1760 miles and 27 hours later, I am in my BACKYARD! That was the longest solo trip I've made to date. Once again "uneventful" no, notta, zero, zip, issues other than a few things being out of reach while driving,,,with my NEWELL.

Matt, glad the solo trip was uneventful! That is a lot of miles in just 27 hours......any naps along the way, or just one 5 Hour Energy after another?
