some build updates,

i got power to the shop on wednesday.  a few of the light banks inside didnt work so they got fixed yesterday.

today i have the Rotory 2 post lift installed,

It is a SPO15 15k lb capacity lift.  plenty big to do my nearly 9k lb F350.  yea i know it is overkill, but i bought it used from a friend of mine.

as most of you know, i have analyzed and over analyzed everything i have planned for in the shop before it was built and as it progressed.  the engineer in me does everything to an extreme.  case in point,  i have a 54 space square d QO breaker panel full and 2 100 amp subpanels.  my buddy the electrician that has given me advice along the way thinks i am nuts...but, i as i told him, that is the way my mind works.  continegengices one after another.

the interior and exterior lighting is another of those cases.  i have 15 300 watt halogens on the outside.  5 on the front, 4 on the rv pad side and 4 more in the back and 3 on the far side.  i tried the flat compact flourescent fixtures but they did not do enough light.  i strongly evaluated commercial LED downlights, but the coast was just too high.

the interior lights i had a lighting engineer them so with all of them on it would be 100 foot candles at waist high.  well, last night we were gone until after dark (actually didnt get home till after 11pm) and i drove us straight back to the shop.  i wanted to see how bright it was now with all 21 light fixtures on spinning the power meter to the tune of 350w x 21= 61 amps.

as darlene says....she will need to wear her sunglasses.  with the inside painted a semigloss white, it is like daylight in there.  i used 5k kelvin bulbs and ti gives nearly 150 foot candles at waist high.  more than i expected, but very very awesome.  i have them switched on 7 separate banks so i can pick and choose which ones to have on based on what work area i am in.

i was in mesa yesterday and stopped by the old house and started the newell up.  she just purred and made me want to unhook her and get on the road.  i will be bringing her home to wittmann in a few weeks.

happy 5th saturday

lift day,

this is a very heavy lift.  it is over 14 foot tall and the base plates were 3 foot by 2 foot.  it took the lift guys all day to take it down, transport it and install it at my place.  but it is great.  they spent 2 hours helping to position it where i wanted it by moving it a little at a time and i would pull my truck in to see how it worked.  had to get the right angles on it.  turned out great.

my truck is lifted so is a little over 7 feet tall.
