I am located near Knoxville and if anyone is looking to hire an inspector - well.... Just kidding.
A few years ago I was looking for a particular car - model - color - etc. and there were not a lot to choose from. One turned up in Chicago that looked perfect in all the pictures, and they were detailed and hi def. But still, could I trust them and no test drive?
In the end I hired a guy that did that for his business, but normally on higher end cars than was involved this time. He had been to the dealer before on other inspections and they could work together. I hired him - $300 if I remember correctly. The car was driven, put on the rack, and completely documented in a very professional package. I had figured that if I went there I would be in that "car buyer" trance when I swear you can't see things that are right in front of your face.
I reviewed the report, rented a car and dropped it at O'Hare and drove the "new" car home. In all the miles and wax jobs since I only found one blemish that was not reported by my inspector. I remember kidding the guy about what a great job he had. He agreed, but said the amount of paper work was way more than I imagined.
