My '93 has what appears to be one of those "cube" heaters in the bay. It is not working. I'm wondering if anybody has had to replace the heater. What did you replace it with?

I bought a cheap electric heater from Walmart & leave it plugged in on low in the plumbing bay.

In my past coaches I bought a Big Heat and only used them whenever needed. It was the cheapest alternative I've found and they work well.

I got the smallest 1500 watt heater I could find to replace the add-on heater in the wet bay that had burned out. Someone had mounted a small plastic heater to the rear wall just over the waste tank drain line and wired the cord into the line that had fed the electric heater that Newell installed near the compartment ceiling on the front side of the bay which obviously had ceased working. I was not able to determine how to replace the one Newell installed without removing the water tank. I was able to find one that was almost identical in size to the add-on heater a previous owner had installed and replaced it but had to have it laying on its back due to the one I found being just slightly taller. I was concerned that I would have to break into it and disable the tilt switch but it works just fine on its back. I leave it on low (750 watts as I recall) and keep its thermostat on the lowest setting. Although it is wired into the Newell thermostat on the other side of the coach, I didn't want it to get as hot as it did sometimes before the Newell thermostat cut off power. I think I found it at the Wal-Mart in Santa Fe last year.

Here's a concept. The Prevost that Wayne n I brought to Spearfish
Uses a HD two position 750/1500 watt heat gun. It's plugged into a 110 vac outlet
Which is controlled by a thermostat like Newell uses. I suppose Whatever works.

Just replaced the bedroom heater (yesterday) with the same King Paw 1500 watt heater I installed in the salon.....the old bedroom heater was still working great after 32 years, but at this point I decided to be proactive and not wait for it to fail and catch fire. Cost shipped was $144 on Amazon. Surprisingly we have used our heaters more this summer than the AC....there was a 4 day span in late July when we used the AC every day, but most of the time we use at least one heater first thing in the morning......close to the perfect summer here in South Lake Tahoe.

Check to see if it was a Square D Heater. They had a recall on them and are pretty much unsafe at this point. If so replace them all! I took one apart to find that they used a Rubber Bushing in the Electric Motor ..... pretty good huh!
Having said this you may not have them in the '93

I am currently in full semi-retirement! I am only surveying commercial boats and since they are very limited haven't had to work for a few weeks now.
As a side I am very busy working on our 1958 Airstream 18' Traveler. I have completed the Galley, Vanity and Bed Frame and they are back in the trailer.
