With my duramax it was giving egr codes so they did the delete on it, still no boost, checked out a couple of other sensers (dont remember what ones) the last resort was the turbo, its no small job on a duramax. But it was the culprit. The vanes were siezed up. Funny it was giving egr fault codes I thought. A very reputable shop did the work. Had to lift the cab to get the exhaust bolts out to remove the turbo. It was a job I wasnt at all interested in tackling myself!!

Doing some searching and came across this site
http://pdidiesel.com/products.html which is right here were I am. I will go see them tomorrow and see if they would install a BIG BOSS® TURBO FOR DETROIT 60 SERIES stage 1 . Dose anyone know anything about them? Thanks

Looks like a good one...quite a $$ difference between stage 1 and stage 2 .. I read the DD manual and SB on the turbo last night.. the only real check I saw for the vanes was that you could disconnect the actuator (clip) and see if it is smooth or sticking,, but in the end.. replace .. keep us posted...

Ron,
I am thinking the problem could be turbo, EGR valve, or sensors. You might do a search on this website for your problem, or join and ask for help.

Lots of Series 60 mechanics on that site. You will have to join to use the search function.

Ron,
Been thinking about this all day. First thing I would do is to pull the fittings off both ends of the turbo. It's pretty easy to do that. Then either cram your head in there, or use a mirror to inspect the turbo blades. Because, as Bill said, impeller chunks on intake side are not good.
If the blades are straight, not chipped, or you don't seen any cracks then I am going to assume that the code and subsequent check engine/depower is a signal problem or the turbo vane actuator is not behaving properly. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it, if I had inspected the turbo.
Are you getting the error code from the Prodriver or VMSPC?

When my duramax turbo quite the vanes themselves were fine, just siezed up on the exhuast side. Like Richard said it won't hurt to drive it if it is that problem. Could be the actuator too. Like I said before it was giving an egr code but was in fact the turbo, odd it wouldn't give a code for the actuator, or related senser

Took the coach in today to a shop. Was there all day and they could not hook up to my engine computer to run the test needed. My vmspc gave a fault code 147-7 vanes failure egr fault. My coach has a OBD 1 connection and they could only read from a OBD 2 or a DEUTSCH which is what they want to read from. They could not come up with an adapter and this was a major shop. Everything is working fine now and I am going on to Phoenix. They have made me an appointment in another shop in Chandler on the 25th. I have about 450 miles from here to there with 10 days to get their. I did also go to the
http://pdidiesel.com/products.html shop. This system was 11K for complete job and was really not what I thought. The system was for off road and did away with emissions and increasing HP by about 100. This was not what I wanted. Thanks for everyone help.

ron, does your coach have the long rectangular plug like mine does? the prevo's used the round plug and that is what your shop probably had. i know leo has the rectangular adapter as he used it on mine one time. not sure why newell used that plug for so long when no one else really was.
