2002 45'8" Newell Coach 608  Series 60 DDEC4/Allison World 6 Speed HD4000MH

I have heard it said that the 2 happiest days in a boat or RV owners life are the day they buy it & the day they sell it. I know that as for me, one of the happiest was the day we picked up the Newell. Every trip to Miami for extra custom work is also an huge feeling of satisfaction. Even with the recent engine issue we just take it in stride & realize that now we have a new engine in a coach with basically a 1 year old interior. Almost to the point of having a new Newell! From what I have seen, the day that someone has to hang up their coach keys due to health issues is one of the saddest experiences a person can face. It hammers home the fact that we are all mortals. Motor coach living/travel is just like everything else. S*** happens! You just need to heed the Boy Scout motto, "be prepared". These are expensive somewhat complicated machines and one needs to be aware of the fact that when things do go awry, they are generally a fair bit of expense and/or effort to fix. I know we intend to enjoy the freedom of luxury travel that our coach affords us for as long as we are able to. Fran says she is always amazed at how I change & all of my woes seem to be left behind in the dust as I grip the wheel in our coach. After 30 +/- yrs of living out of a suitcase in motels, it's great to just pull over & be "there" whenever you want. No hassels of lugging luggage. (is there a pun there?) Take the plunge Harry! Just do your due diligence before buying & be prepared to have fun with life no matter what it throws your way or where your coach takes you. After all, it continues to be a learning experience for all of us!

now that's a little more like it .... I love my CA King modified in the coach and decided not to reconfigure for a Sleep Number we also love from our home bedroom that is comfortable taking up room for 4 years now in storage unit #2 ...

Thanks guys you've helped a lot.

I want the very things you guys are talking about, the fun of travel, the old friends, meeting new friends and getting together with Newell friends! To do that and be able to be in my home and my bed at night is priceless.

Some have mentioned the delight of sitting behind the wheel and just driving. And I look forward to that very much. Just sitting up there in that captains chair commanding a 50,000 pound diesel pusher shouting "get out of my way you idiot! Who doesn't love that! Wink

You're all the best,

Harry

Harry, I have that reaction when driving my car but not in the Newell. In the Newell, I find I am more laid back (emotionally) and more alert (physically) to what is going on around me. So I find the Newell much more pleasurable to drive than the car. I get bored in the car but not in the Newell.

Just like Roger Miller's "King of the Road"!

Having a bathroom on-board is another MAJOR benefit. Any exit or large parking lot can become a rest stop.

Harry, I am driving my sixth motorhome over a 40 year period. I also ran a 44' Ocean Sportfisher with twin Detroits for 15 years. During all of these adventures, I had road service for two blown tires, a recent wench service to get me out of a hole, and the boat always got us home, but once on one engine. Yep, I had to replace a bunch of coach and boat parts and systems over the years, but I have no regrets after traveling hundreds of thousands of reliable miles. Simply put, it has been a great adventure with few regrets. Don't take the plunge unless you are looking for an adventure, with family and friends. It's a life style.

I like adventure Chester and I know my wife and I will enjoy the lifestyle. Thanks for the good words!!!

Hi Guys,

Talking about maintenance, I was just snooping around the Newell Website and clicked on "Pre-Owned Coaches". I was surprised to see two coaches from 2005.

That seemed unreal to me that Newell would offer two coaches that are 9 years old and offer a 2 year warrantee with them. Is that a "bumper to bumper" style of warrantee as far as you know?

I can't help but wonder how many other coach manuactures would offer that on a 9 year old coach?

Harry
