What's it for???
#11

Can you take a picture of the end? If the end is solid, then it's a temp sensor. If the end has a little hole then it's a pressure sensor. I am assuming it was on the engine, and it was screwed into one of the oil galleys.

What warning lights were on? What was done with the two ends that were attached to the fitting? Were they connected or was the circuit left open? I think you have DDEC? Do you run VMS PC? If so what were those codes?

Thanks for the response Richard. The coach is still at the service center so I'll have to gather more information from them. The end is solid but you can see in the picture there is a small hole in the side and they told me this was dripping oil. No warning lights remained on once the coach was started. I'll visit there tomorrow and will post more info then. This is one of the first series 60 engines installed in a Newell. I do not run VMS PC.

I'm thinking its a sender for a Murphy switch. The Murphy switch system may have been by-passed in the past.

Ok, I'm biting. What is a Murphy switch? The only Murphy I know is the one that helps me on my projects.

I've seen these on industrial stationary engines in the oil industry.

My 1978 Newell had a Murphy switch set-up.

Looks to me like a brake light switch for hydraulic brakes. Where did you find it?
