There's not a lot of difference, the T5 has a slightly higher output. But it also has higher cost. I'll bet I've got the T8's up there and not the T5's, even though I previously mentioned the T5. I'm betting homeylowes didn't have T5's when I did mine.
dean, call erin from the place i sent you . he can explain it all easily. the t5 are smaller in diameter and the only ones that have the High Output bulbs. the 6 bulb fixtures i am using are over 300 watts power each. very very bright.

And after looking at the replacement bulb box, I did put up T8's as Tom is doing. I've attached 2 pictures, the first is just 4 lights on and the other is all 20 in the 2400 sqft. They work well. I've got to be under a vehicle before I really need a drop light.

status update. after finally getting the permit, the builder has been tied up with the heavy equipment needed to do my pad. right now i am in dirt shock. the engineer is saying i need 410 cubic yards of dirt to build the pad up. since i live in the boonies, that is going to cost me a small fortune. the builder is searching for that much dirt. i also have a friend who is an exec with a huge pool builder and he is seeing if he can find me any dirt from pool digging.
all of that aside, the dirt starts coming monday. he said it will be trucks coming and going for 4-5 days bringing the dirt.
i have to build the pad up about 2 feet due to floodplain requirements.

Hi Tom,
WOW! I needed about half that much sand. Fortunately there is a gravel pit less than a mile up the road but it was still pricey. I also needed about 50 ton of limestone so I hauled that my self with my Dodge dually/dump trailer.
Are they using sand or pea gravel or something else?
