Speaking of batteries, there is a blog I have been following for several years called
Technomadia . He has an article (click on Technomadia), which is linked, called "A year on lithium". I know Richard, and Tom will thoroughly enjoy the detail Chris Dunphy goes into. We met them when we were in Florida last March/April. I am very intrigued by their experiment. Would love to hear your thoughts on this article. I really think this is the direction I want to go eventually as the costs come down, although, I don't think the costs now are too far out of line if you do a lot of the grunt work like Chris did.

Great article, I suppose time will tell. It would sure be nice to replace a thousand lbs of battery with the new technology and minimal weight. I didn't notice the cost in the article unless I missed it.
Liberty has been using LIP since Jan 2010 on their Prevost conversions with good success and expect to get 10 yrs service. In that period of time a bus would go through two sets of AGM's, so the unknown is the cost to replace the LIP's.
As this technology improves, the cost will go down. Remember what your cell phone cost in 1988!

I was at Newell last year and they had a coach with LIP , sold the coach and replace with Lifeline????? Said technology was not ready to be released??
I saw this unit and watch the new owner load with stuff before leaving..
