As I was driving by I saw a 2000 series Newell in a walmart parking lot, 40 miles or so north of tupelo, looked like they had turned in for the night.. I'm 40 miles south in tupelo walmart for the night... Anyone have any suggestions to get to Orlando from Birmingham? Through Atlanta?

65 south to 231 to 10 to 75.... Montgomery, Dothan ,Tallahassee, Gainesville (Stop in at Don Garlitts Museum), Orlando. I think that route is under 600 miles.

Get fuel before you get to the keys. Getting fuel on the keys I have found to be tough.

That's one of the things I love about our older coach, 324 gal fuel capacity! Easier to make to cheaper price fuel & not get stuck paying high prices in a bind.

Wow 324 gallons is incredible amount of fuel. There was not an option for larger fuel tanks on 1517. It comes with 195 gallons when I asked for larger but no go on that.

my 90 had 311 gallons. my 2002 has 235. and your new one has 190. i would venture a guess and say it is all about weight. at 7.1 pounds per gallon, that is a weight savings of 540 pounds and another 320 pounds for a total of nearly 1/2 ton. plus the weight of the tank itself.
my 90 had a gvw of 40k, my 02 of 55k and your new one probably 65k?

You are spot on. It's all a trade off. However Newell claims that the avail capacity to carry stuff will be about 8k, that's more then 2x what my Prevo had if it's true. Time will tell.

My tank in my '82 is only 180 gallons, but that is so much more than my Class "C" held (40 gallons) that I am happy. The restricting factor for our coach is that it is only 36' long....the fuel tank dead ends into the back of the entry stairway. All that being said I'm usually good for 1100-1300 miles of driving between fill ups so I don't have to think about fuel all the time. The last time I filled up was in Carson City back in the first week of November....I've still got over 1/3 of a tank left. We'll top that off right after we leave Tom's on Wednesday....diesel is much cheaper in AZ.....we'll pay some where in the neighborhood of $3.51 per gallon.
