Personally I like to unload the generator and let it cool down and I also like to load it up slowly. Its always better for the generator. Can the generator handle the full load at once, sure it can and most likely in the big scheme of things it will not be a big issue. I have installed large generators, up to 1MW.. that's megawatt and they are back up generators that all take the entire load all at once, its what they are designed to do. I am sure its hard on the generator windings but overall who knows the effect on longevity, other items wear out probably before its an issue. You may look into a delay on break timer to allow the engine to cool down after the transfer switch drops out.
