I agree with Richard, that generally the last thing touched is usually the suspect to start with.
With that being said, maybe recount the history of when the no start condition occured. Was it directly after you replace fuel filters or did you do that thinking that was an issue?
Did the mechanic verify that the ECM is seeing the SRS and TRS sensors? If the ECM does not see those sensors then it will not fire. Another possibility is that somehow the tone ring has an issue, but again the history up to the no start issue will give you a good place to start.
I have attached the troubleshooting guide for a crank no start, that clearly gives you the path to go down to make sure that you are checking all the possibilities.
