This is a tough one. Wondering if you can get a flat tip screwdriver into the latch to release it, shove it into that slot in the bracket and then lever it open?
The other though is, are the bolts on the side holding that bracket on, can you remove those since they might be easier to get to than the ones holding the catch itself? I am talking about the ones you can see behind the gas strut.
