Engine 'blowout'

Interesting.  In the second picture,  looking through the hole in the compressor crankcase it looks like the connecting rod and cap are intact . Possibly a rod bolt came out and was pushed through the case by the crank or the rod . Hopefully everything went out , but shrapnel could have found it's way into your engine . 
I would be curious to know what the shop finds . Did your dash gauge indicate a drop in air pressure ?
