I can only comment as if I were trying to solve this problem on my coach. If I were trying to solve this problem I would take the time to identify the destination of all the colored wires originating at the Level/Travel switch before I rewired the switch. And I check the wiring logic against how the system should function.

I would carefully run the system in both leveling and travel modes to establish a baseline of what it is and is not doing.

Before rewiring the switch I would carefully note the original wiring.
