We're leaving Colorado and travelling down I-70 to Wichita, KS. Then down I-135 then ?? to Miami.
Anybody have any recommendations on the route and adequate campgrounds that will easily accommodate a 45' ?
I'd rather not have to deal with any tolls so a state highway would be fine.

A friend from Wichita suggested for me to take 400 west out of there to 69 and into Miami... Ive taken 400 to Fall River Lake and those would be a good road to have a coach on. I just called my friend and he definitely suggested taking this way. He said that 400 is a good road the whole way to Missouri.
Or you could take 35s to 412 and over to the turnpike up go back up to Miami... But I think you would be going way south, all interstate though.

But that would be quite a bit out of the way coming from I-70 and would put us through Tulsa. I was thinking more of state highways through southern KS or northern OK.

400 is how google.maps routed it. We may try that way. Just re-read Ron Skeen's post and saw 400 to 69 is the preferred route. Thanks Afrench!
Any suggestions on campgrounds along that way?
Thanks!

Hey Forest,
There are 5 or 6 rest areas along I-70 from the CO. line to Salina where you turn south on I-135 some of them have a circle just before you leave that you can pull into and park for the night. It's a little bit away from the main parking area, so not as much noise. I don't know if the rest areas on 135 allow
overnight parking or not. There is also a rest area on between Beaumont and Severy on 400, I think it allows overnight parking. We've stayed in Russel, KS. at the Triple "J" RV Park. It's hard getting into the park and then it's hard driving inside the park, the pull thrus were OK. 50 amps etc. The price wasn't bad. I hope this helps.

We came across 70 in mid August. I used several of the rest stops on the trip. None that I remember had "no overnight parking" signs. Several actually had dump stations on that loop. Many of the loops had low hanging branches, so you may find its not a great drive thru.

Stopped for the night at the KOA in Wakeeney, KS. Nothing special with 70 foot 50 amp gravel pull through.
Just pulled into the Air Capital RV Park on the south side of Wichita, KS. Nice basic park with wide streets and 70' cement pull throughs. $48/night with a 10% discount! But it includes 2 ribeyes and baked potatoes delivered to our coach, and a bottle of wine, and a waiter and busboy to clean up after. Oh yeah and they'll wash and wax the coach!

Just got to mecca. The campground is full! They had to move one for us to plug in. There are 4 that are done and waiting to be picked up.
Any gurus here?
