Thought I was going to have 50 amp this trip at the spot we were going to, but there was a lot of tree trimming to do to get to the spot where the plug was put in so we parked in our usual spot where we have 15 amp. I generally plug in to that when I'm not running the A/C and have a question. I go into my settings on my Magnum Inverter to change my AC input amps from 30 down to 10. When I then go back onto generator power I"m assuming I need to change that back to 30 again or does that AC input setting only have to do with power that I'm plugging into.
Would be infinitely easier if I could leave in on 10 vs. remembering to change it back and forth, but don't want to screw something up.

Brad,
I suspect the Magnum inverter setting at 10 amps will work running your generator as well as your current plug in situation. From what I understand that setting is used to not pull too many amps by your inverter charger and trip the shore line circuit breaker.
I have two inverters and they are set at 30 amps each. I have a mental note to change those settings if I ever plug into a 30 amp site.
Now that you bring this up I'm going to try to force myself to test this operation while I'm home and have my 50/30/20 power box.

I’m pretty sure Hank is correct. I have 2 Magnums in mine. One is set as the primary and the other as secondary. I can’t remember if you need to set the secondary or only the primary, but it normally does not need to be changed once set. It’s only controlling the low side draw.
I can see where you might give up some power usage if you’re on a 15 or 20 amp circuit, as the inverter(s) will only pull to 10 amps. But that’s a minor loss.

I'm willing to try it, but just to confirm if I leave AC input at 10amps and fire up the generator and everything seems to work with 3 A/C's running, etc. then I have nothing to worry about. I just have nightmares sometimes about having something set wrong or I forget to change it back and I walk away from the coach and come back to find it on fire.

It’s listed in the inverter remote manual (this one should be yours:
https://www.magnum-dimensions.com/sites/...-ME-RC.pdf)
See page 6 for the specific info:
It’s NOT reading how I had remembered it. It’s only stating it reduces battery charging to the input max, not that it restricts the total inverter/charger input usage to the input max. It specifically states the inverter portion will use as much as it wants.
Of course that better explains the reason for the “shore” button on the remote face. Direct and easy access to changing that value.
