Greetings All,
We are on our way to Las Vegas, (currently just west of Albuquerque, NM at the Route 66 Casino and RV park). We have 4 Dometic units, but only one is blowing cold air. Does anyone know of any shops or AC places that will recharge these units somewhere along our I-40 route? We will be headed out tomorrow and our next stop is going to be the painted forest in AZ. We can detour since we are almost an week early for getting to Las Vegas. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
If not, it's not the end of the world, we currently have a Solar AC unit, and a roll around that keeps up with the heat for the front of the bus to keep our dogs cool. At night, our AC over the kitchen keeps the bedroom cold with 4" elbow ducts directing the air flow.

These are the split basement units and not rooftop right? If basement then any AC guy should be able to recharge them, if they want to. That's what I found is when you mention it's a motorhome most guys automatically say NO. Maybe find a small local AC shop and drive into their parking lot (if you can fit of course) and maybe they'll do it there.
On my 1993 there were service ports already so that made it easy.

Dear Warm Newell Owner, Our 1991 #277 model has three split units, two condensor units under the driver's seat area and the bedroom unit in the cargo compartment. The front two units slide out after you remove the lower pin or bolt. The fill/service ports are easily accessible and any home AC person could service them. Our units use R-22 or you can use R-422B without having to purge the system.
We just repaired all three of our units after the copper tubing rubbed against the steel enclosure or steel wire covers. My local AC fellow did the silver soldering. I ordered the R-422B on Amazon and charged them myself. I do most of my own car AC work, so I have the gauges and vacuum pump already. Email me if you need further assistance. deg

I will try finding a local shop in Grantz, NM that would be willing to do the recharge. They are the basement units, I have tried finding someone to recharge them before while we were in Panama City Beach, FL. But everyone refused to touch it.

I found it difficult to get someone to work on mine. Ultimately I quit calling it a motorhome AC unit and called it an older mini split. One company came and did the work for me. Unfortunately it died later still. I only have one working unit in the back.

Well it looks like we are headed down to see Leo at AAA, I93 in AZ which is one giant pot hole, caused a tear in my left rear tag axle air bag. We are 3 hrs away from there from where we are so we are going to post up at this rest stop for the night then head down in the morning. I'll call in the morning to make sure Leo is there.
I stemmed the leak by wrapping it with half a roll of electrical tape which has been allowing me to hold and build full pressure while in ride height. Regulator drops to 95 psi, then builds to 130, where the engine compressor unloads until hitting 95psi again.

Not sure, but I think Leo is on vacation out of state. Might be back by now. I was at the shop on Tuesday and was told he was still away.

There is a tear in the air bag itself or a problem with the line going to it? Green slime from Walmart or any auto parts store will get you a long distance.

A quarter inch tear in the side wall of the bag itself.
