The Heater in our Bedroom began making noise so I turned it off right away. After looking for a replacement I was forced to remember about the Recall on the Square D model TW1222 Series B Heaters. Looks like the Cadets had a Recall as well.
The Cadet replacement is model RMC151W and is a bit larger. The problem is that they want more clearance from the floor than the Square D had so not sure what I am going to do just yet.
The prices are all over the board from $255.00 at Lowes to $152.78 at wayfair.com.
Anyway just a "heads up reminder"!!!!! These older heaters have a potential problem so at least take another look and listen carefully! I pulled the one from the Tank Bay and was amazed at how much quieter it was.

As a follow up the one from the bay is bad as well. I am going to replace them all now as a precaution! I do not want a burned up coach!

I found the same problems. They all worked but one was noisy. I found burnt wiring on all including the basement. I found my replacements at http://www.king-electric.com

Thanks Jimmy for the link. This post was meant to remind Clarke and inform Todd as well as others.
The problem with at least the Square D Heaters is a Rubber Grommet that is used as a Fan Bushing. Go Figure right Rubber Bushings on a Heater! anyway the Fan fails and then the Heater Coils runaway and scorches the surrounding furniture or wiring. The one out of the Tank Bay had an intermittent Fan Failure and the Insulation above the Fan was Scorched just as the Recall states, so these WILL FAIL at some point!
PS that link didn't work as posted but what model did you use?

Our first Square D heater (front) is biting the dust.....starting to display the fan symptoms others have mentioned. Will not use it again....ordered the King Electric 120 Volt PAW heater via Amazon Prime....$161.55 shipped. Will be waiting for me at Richard's when we arrive Thursday! So thankful you guys put up this information. I've got two more I'm keeping an eye on (water bay and bedroom), and will probably proactively replace them within the next 60 days. So far the other 2 are not symptomatic.

Thanks for heads up. Tom and Clarke always chuckle when I say things like this but....I don't even know how to turn the heater on in my coach. It spent too much time in the shop last year. This sounds like good switch out project for Spearfish with all of that talent that will be there. After seeing a few fire pics on this site including the one Ernie showed us last fall I will be proactive about steps like this.
On a somewhat related note do you think the alarms that detect carbon monoxide and propane leaks is a good idea? Pg 27 of the camping world master catalogue 2013.

Clarke,
Would you post some pictures of the new heater after the install? I went with a Cadet replacement but had to open the hole a little and would rather not in the bathroom & living area. Also we have one in the tank bay and you may as well.
Todd,
1st I would not travel without a Carbon Monoxide Detector and Smoke Alarm.
You should have a LPG Detector at the LPG Switch (ours is under the refrigerator). The original for our '82 was bad so I replaced it when we got the coach.

Hey Todd....yeah...we have a Carbon Monoxide detector, and a smoke alarm. I don't have an LPG detector.
