Pulled into an RV park in Mesa, AZ, late today and I could not get either of my slides to extend. I observed a large amount of red hydraulic fluid leaking at the center front of the coach. It seem like it is leaking from the generator bay, but I cannot extend the generator either. Too late today to sort things out, but I am wondering if the leak could be in the generator bay, an is there a way to extend the generator without hydraulic fluid? Fortunately, I am going to be here a couple of weeks, so time to figure this out. The last two weeks remind me of the old saying = when it rains, it pours.

Chester, There are several good mobile RV guys in Phoenix. I cannot give On The Road Again RV Service a good recommendation. He has been very undependable in regards to working on my AC. I have now got another guy lined up but not sure how it will go yet.

The generator slide should be operated by air so may not be related to the oil leaking.

I stand corrected.
So in Chesters case it sounds like the same hydraulic system for the slides is used for the generator slide?

Confirmed this morning that the bad leak is apparently the hydraulic line or cylinder that operates the generator slide. The cylinder is located in a steel enclosure under the generator box. Tom has given me contact information for the HWH traveling tech. First, I need to determine how to isolate the hydraulic line to the generator side so that I can operate the room slides. Then there is the question of how to get the generator to slide out. Access to this hydraulic system may be a bear but it appears to be from under the generator. I can only hope that the generator does not have to be removed. Fortunately I am settled in Mesa, AZ, and can take the coach to someone that can fix it. Thanks for the call Tom and any Guru advise will be appreeciated.

I was told that the lines do run under the dash in my coach and maybe your leak can be found there ?

Chester at least on the air powered genny slides there is a release cable and I have been able to pull mine open when the air is down. Maybe yours can be pulled open also after you pull the release?

Here is a possible solution to get the slides out. Look in the bay under the driver and find the two lines that go to the generator slide.
You could disconnect them, and plug the outlet from the hyd pump. Plugging the lines going to the generator will not help you. Any NAPA store or Parker fitting store should have a suitable plug.
BEFORE you disconnect any lines in this area, deflate the slide seals. Releasing hyd pressure could cause the slide to shift which in turn could roll the seal. I don't know how big a concern it really is, but Newell and HWH both recommend to deflate the seals before touching the hyd system. Once you have the outlets to the generator slide plugged, refill the reservoir with ATF, Dexron III, and you should be good to go. You may have some air in the system now, so the slides may behave lazily or jerky for a cycle or two. Hold the button down for ten seconds on full extension and full retraction to help purge the system.
