Newell House

It would be better told at a campfire. Maybe at the next rally we'll tell the story.

ceiling insulation complete,

a couple of young guys showed up bright and early and had it done in about 3 hours.  R38 blown in fiberglass insulation.

he said no problem getting up there and crawling the 60 feet to the other side.

so, it is all insulated now.

all i have to do is make the face frame around the ceiling access opening now for the piece of drywall to sit on.  i thought about putting one of those drop down ladders to get up there but then asked myself.   when will i EVER go up there?

next is the septic guy and the drywallers to finish.  and stucco finish coat.  all this week.  i hope

tom

Using my logic, put the drop down ladder in and you'll never have to go up there. If you don't put it in you will have to go up there.

today is poo day.....and i dont mean winnie.

the septic system was installed today.  a 1000 gallon septic tank and 45' of leech line.  think the 1000 gallon tank is enough for a mancave bathroom and utility sink?

the county does not let you install anything smaller than a 1000 gallon tank.  works for me anyway as we will be dumping 175 gallon rv tanks into it.

the tank is 10 feet long, 6 high and 5 wide.  made of 6" reinforced 4000 psi concrete.  he says i can drive a truck over it if i want.  no issues.  fortunately it is tucked up against the side of the building so that wont be an issue.

they are finishing the sand finish coat stucco today as well.

now for the septic inspections and we are good to get it back filled.  there is a lot of extra rock and dirt now to do some filling in.

you can see the contrast on the front vs the side of the building.  the front has the sand finish coat done (using whilte silica sand) and the side is still the scratch coat.

nice to see progress again,

tom

We had the opportunity to stop in on Tom and Darlene last Sunday. They are very gracious hosts! The Newell house is awesome! I worked in construction in my early years and finished A LOT of sheet-rock but I've never seen so many square feet in one room...It seemed to me that Tom is building not just to own , but to share with others in their community and beyond. KOOL!

we sure enjoyed dean and deb visiting last week.

a casual day today.  darlene was gone for the day so i tinkered outside.

i mounted the two 50a RV boxes outside as well as the heatpump quick disconnect box.  all i have to do now is connect the wires.

i finished running a couple of runs of 1" conduit for future use on our gazebo and a water feature.

a better picture of the septic as it waits for inspection and a front shop of the shop with the scaffolding down.
