Jack,
In my 2012 Harley transmission I changed the fluid to Red Line synthetic transmission fluid. It removed the 'clunk' when shifting. When I first poured the fluid into a measuring cup it came out clear red as usual until midway through the quart. Then it came out pink and thicker. I likened this stuff to miniature tapioca pearls (pillows). I poured the fluid back into the bottle and shook it up before measuring it out to put into the transmission. This fluid sticks to the sides of the cup 'forever' so I imagine it coats the gears in the same way.
Since then I use Red Line primary fluid and their transmission fluid exclusively. I'm not as strict at engine oil as long as it's synthetic - mostly Mobile 1 or Castrol. I don't recall using Super Tech in the engine although I favor that in my cars.
