Many thanks to @"Chester Stone" for this one. He mentioned in one of the guru sessions the icemaker unit was generic and relatively easy to replace. Since mine had been shedding it's coating into the ice for a while, Rhonda hinted that I should replace it. 

I found an OEM on Amazon for 80 bucks, but generics could be had for 40.

Richard, to get the power cord out easily, use vice grips to break the black tab that holds the power card in place. Then it just falls out. Otherwise it is hard to do with just enough room for one hand in the space.
