i was going through some old pictures and saw the ones i took when i fixed the jerkyness of the cruise control on my 90.
when i was driving on the freeway with the cruise, it would be jerky sometimes.
the DDEC2 uses a hall effect sensor to calculate the speed and cruise control.
the sensor are about the size of a 50 cent piece in diameter and mounted on a plate on right behind the driveshaft. there is a round disc with holes in it attached to the driveshaft. the sensor on the top is the cruise and the same one on the bottom is for the speedometer.
it essentially counts the holes and calculates the speed and what needs to happen for the cruise. if the gap is out of adjustment, it hits and misses.
the gap is 30 thousands and there is a locknut to loosen it. it is really really tight. there is not much room underthere so be careful and block the coach up.
i used a hammer to hit the wrench to break it loose and ended up hitting myself in the head and donated quite a bit of blood to the ground.
but regapping it fixed it permanently.
thought it might help some of you sometime.
