Another Air Problem
#1

I have another significant leak in my air system and am unable to locate it.  I have an appointment in 3 weeks to resolve the issue but I’m trying to put in place a temporary fix with an auxiliary compressor.  Right now I have all air turned off as the Thomas compressors were coming on in less than 5 minutes and frequently shutting down due to excessive run time.  I purchased an appropriate compressor and think I have it hooked up properly but I’m getting no air to the coach.  Would really like to be able to operate the door! I can live with slightly out of level for the time being. I have attached pictures and would appreciate any ideas!

The compressor shows 120 psi and the gauge in the picture shows the same.  Is there another cutoff I’m missing?

Thanks!

I don't know if you have added any ball valves so that you can un-commission some circuits temporarily.  That way you can turn off unnecessary circuits when you don't need to use them and if they leak, you can still get to your destination without excess wear and tear on your compressors.

I have done this in the past to help with troubleshooting, but it allowed me to move back on the road.  Examples include dump valves, slide seals but could include air seat, toilet, air doors etc.

No, I wish that were the case but I have not done so.  I can travel without a problem as the engine driven compressor is fine and the air bags inflate without issue.  I really just need the alternative compressor while I’m stationary.

I think you have the air compressor ported into the output from the air doubler. It will not flow backwards through the doubler.

Try the other quick disconnect port.

Thanks Richard.  I thought about that and double checked; it is plugged into the correct port.  Appreciate the thought in any case.

Terry, I went out and took a hard look at mine, and you are correct on the in and out of the air doubler.

Let’s do some incredibly basic checks. I don’t know what you have tried, so forgive me if I am suggesting things that are already established. I am not intentionally trying to insult anyone, but rather eliminating the basics before complete disassembly of the coach ;_0

First, without the air line plugged into the chuck, when you open the 1/4 turn on the air line from the compressor do you get air?

Second, with the engine running to make BIG air, if you plug into that port, do you get air?

Third, and I am really fuzzy on this one. If I interpret your comments correctly, you have such a massive leak that the on board compressor cycles every couple of minutes. When the on board cycles, how much pressure builds?

Massive leaks like that are usually one of two things, a blown slide seal or an air line that has cracked, ruptured, or slipped out of its fitting.

To get you in business quickly, you could alter the air line plumbing with tee at the on board compressor to accept the input from your skid compressor. BTW, those HF compressors are pretty dang quiet.

Richard - Your logic flow is identical to what I have done. Finally connected into the line in the compressor bay and am now functional. Yippee! In the process of doing that I may have also found a leak in the moisture filter in the same compartment. Wasn’t noticeable when running the onboard compressor but very much so on my jerry-rigged system. Ordered a new one from the mother ship.

Nice to have something to do on these beautiful summer days in northern Michigan.

Appreciate your input!

Terry I have a ultrasonic leak detector that is amazing we have found leaks that other detectors could not, I bought mine of ebay for $50 and had to repair the battery connection and clean it up its old as the hills but works another Guru seen its performance and bought one for himself. Made by Biddle.

Rub it in about beautiful Northern Michigan thats where we would be right now if we could.
