New to Newell with issues - [email protected] - 10-16-2024

Mark Robertson in Ft Wayne In . I purchased #266 1991 41'
That won't do anything from switch on column, transmission doesn't respond to toggle switch on left armrest, tachometer doesn't read and won't rev much with pedal. When fast idle turned on momentarily idles up then falls back to normal idle.
I've not been able to spend much time on it yet as I'm trying to finish something else unrelated but intend to have a lot more free time in a couple weeks as I'm retiring. I've fiddled and fixed for 50 some years and hope to a few more.

At the rear engine wiring panel (Right side of coach at rear) there are two circuit breakers for the DDEC. Check those first. They tend to corrode and will only allow half the bank of cylinders to work. Start there first would be my strategy.

Welcome,

Let’s start with some fundamentals. Have you installed and primed new fuel filters.

Second, if am not mistaken both the throttle and the shifter are air powered. How much air pressure are you building?

Has the coach been sitting for some time?

If you are building no air pressure, then hook an aux compressor up to the port in the passenger rear engine compartment and see if your throttle and shifter issues resolve.
