Looking for a Newell Coach - GSPRING - 08-26-2024

Hello All,

Been retired for sometime now and my wife just retired last month. So, we are now on the hunt (been researching Newell for about 9 months now)

Don't get me wrong - older Country Coach, Monaco and Beavers are nice but - come on now - A Newell Smile

Last month we completed a tour at Newell in OK. Thanks was icing on the cake - what great people (felt like family)

We are looking for at least a 2 slide coach that has been well maintained - age and milage not important but how it was cared for is.

The Kicker is we have about a 100K budget / may be able to move that up a bit for the right coach.

Thanks for all your help and the great information this site has/ is giving me for my research!

Best,

Gary

Gary finding one well maintained for that price will be tough but more power to you. We paid $99k and have close to $160k into it not including our 2 years of labor, if you where to take one to Newell and have it repaired you might as well bought one that is a little more expensive to begin with because your going to pay big time. If you have mechanical talents then your in the right place people here have knowledge and are willing to help you get one into good shape.

I've got 157k with mostly self labor in my '93. These ain't cheap by any means. If you buy one for a low price consider what jack said.

Thank you both - I hear what your saying and all the research I have done here confirms it as well but, Simon I am not building a PIT Smile

I have a few leads here local (Texas) I would really like to have a "Newell specific" type inspector in my back pocket - you don't know what you don't know!

I have turn a few wrenchs in my life and completely maintained the 5 houses I have owned over the years (okay I didn't install the new AC's - so structure - plumbing and electrical doesn't scare me - not real intune to working with air system as I think air tools don't count.

RE: Looking for a Newell Coach - 360 - 08-27-2024

My take would be if you're mechanically inclined, and it sounds like you are, it's possible to buy a S60 powered coach near 100k and so long as everything is working when you purchase it you can then plan on spending 5-10k/year on average as you need to replace tires, batteries, etc. At least that has been my experience thus far. Clearly if something catastrophic fails you can get dinged for big ticket items, but I don't think that is the norm. What scares me is if someone says "I've got 100k to spend" and they think they spend 100k and then just need to pay for insurance and fuel as there are some that think of a coach that way and are sorely mistaken in short order. My hunch is that is not your perspective.

Your hunch is correct! I have been lurking off and on for almost a year - can't tell you how many hours I have in desktop research - just ready to get my hands dirty Smile - thanks for the response!
