Stairs and Entry Light Issues -

Morning everyone!
Quick question for everyone before I dig deeper and remove the step motor. Couple months ago I noticed our steps were becoming intermittent and not retracting when pulling the rig out, now they seem to be permitally out. I have removed the door access panel and engaged and cleaned all three switches independently and together without and different result. Under the stairs I have checked the ground connection and unplugged and reattached the main stair plug which illuminates the amber stair light under the stairs for a couple of minutes however the stairs stay extended. Checked the stair fuse and it's good. Everything indicates that the stair motor or maybe the control board has failed, but I noticed the entry door light stays illuminated even with the door closed in the auto position. This tells me that maybe a door switch has failed and not the stair motor itself.
Figured to ask the group here before going a "step" further and removing the motor to test its functionality. Hopefully Newell has and is willing to email/fax a wiring diagram for the coach. The one thing I miss about my old Country Coach is that every wire was numbered at every junction and the user manuals had all the wiring diagrams and wire numbers for easy troubleshooting.
Have a great day!

My door switch got to be intermittent. It put the stairs out going down the road. On 653… it was a metal plunger switch 1/3 up the door frame. (Not air door)

So,,,,,,,,,,short the terminals on the door switch and see what happens.

Already tested all the switches with no change in stair operation, might be a short in the wiring somewhere. Pretty cool with a 600s coach number with a manual door thought they stop making them in the late 90s.

Testing the switch may be a little tricky. When my door switch failed, it developed a “dead spot”. So if you pushed it all the way in, it worked…but if you pressed in partially, it may or may not work.

Its a to ground switch isn't it?
Jesse when I bought the motor and controller off amazon it was a plug and play black to black, green to green, yellow to yellow deal.

Is the switch a magnetically operated one? IOW if a magnet then on the door a magnet would trip the switch when door is closed. If so you can use a magnet to operate the switch. Sometimes the switch or magnet gets out of line since it just pushes into a hole.
BTW did you lubricate the steps?

Here are a couple of files to help troubleshoot and maintain your steps.
I just replaced all three parts to hopefully remove failures in the near future.
If you use the supplied bolts, one of them will be used where it is too long and interferes with the gears. I put a couple of washers on it and the step works as it is supposed to.
