120v compressor barely making air -

Went to see coach and compressor was running what seemed to be non-stop. Took off line at exhaust port and while there is some air I can easily close it off with barely any pressure from my finger. Assuming compressor is shot?

Sounds like a toasted compressor.

Fit a gauge to the compressor and see what pressure it will build before going any further.

Sounds like a plan Richard. I’ll need to figure out how to rig that up.

Buy a gauge the same NPT size as the outlet on the compressor. Just thread it in.
You are dead heading the air pressure into the gauge. Don’t leave the compressor running long like that or it will overheat. But you will see in seconds how much pressure the pump will make. A Thomas will make around 150 psig new.
Or if you have made your handy dandy Steve Bare leak detector, you can just temporarily plumb the line to the outlet of the compressor, shut the valve, and voila !

It would not budge the needle on the gauge. Plugged in a little portable compressor in the battery bay to keep my seals up until I can get a compressor shipped in. Overnight my front seals were totally deflated.

Well now you know, as opposed to speculating.
Look and listen for a leak when you get the new compressor. Constant running because of a big leak is a big killer of those compressors.

I’ve got what sounds like an almost supersonic kind of sound I can hear up in the front on the driver’s side. When I connected my portable compressor I’m at 9 minutes per cycle. Compressor runs for 20 seconds or so and then 9 minutes it kicks on again.

Brad that supersonic sound you hear, is the ignition switch and the dash air on (either on heat or a/c)? Diesel engines use a Venturi to create vacuum for the a/c system to operate the vents and blend door.

Found the culprit and posted it on another thread and should have only used one thread anyway as they were related. The sound I heard was for sure air, but man was it a high pitched one. Guess that should been my first clue in that I knew coach did not normally make that sound and then it did. Culprit was a leaking pressure sensor on the side of the 6 pack. Removed the leaking one and the one below it that was not leaking an plugged them with 1/8 NPT pipe plugs.
Fired up the new compressor and everything seems pretty tight so far. Anxious to see how long I'm truly going between runs once I can spend considerable time at the coach this weekend.
