Microphor Toilet Video question - Wanderman - 07-23-2021

So.. I have one of my toilets working quite nicely. (1/2 bath) the other seems to work differently. I know a PO worked on it, and I'll wager something is put back together improperly.

Can someone more knowledgeable than me look at this video and let me know what to repair/adjust?

Under the ceramic top is a little brass valve with a hex head that controls how fast the air escapes. Your cycle is too short which is due to either low air pressure or the speed control valve is too open.

Confirm air pressure on the gauge at the 12VDC compressor junction is approximately 55 to 60.

If adjusting the hex head, do it in 1/16 turns, it is mighty sensitive. Cycle time from flush to finish should be about 5 secs, IIRC.

OK pressure is all set between 55 and 60PSI.

I thought yje circular flap was supposed to cycle in about 5 seconds not the entire flush cycle. The other toilet is about the same speed, but there is no air rush after the bottom circular flapper opens.

Working toilet: Lever activated, Water flows, flap opens, stuff goes down into hopper, flap closes, water fills bowl to top of flap. Done.

Weird Toilet: Lever activated, water flows, flap opens, stuff goes into down into hopper, flap closes (while a mad rush of air is heard), water fills bowl to top of flap. Done

Weird toilet is correct operation.

The whoosh of air you hear when the flap closes is the hopper below the flap pressurizing, which pushes the hopper contents to the waste tank.

Ummm the "more" working one doesnt make that noise at all. This is a really loud are escaping noise, maybe coming from the area below the flap valve IN the hopper?

The 1/2 bath discharges directly into the waste tank. The rear bath has to discharge into piping that travels to the waste tank. The purpose of the pressurized hopper is to force the waste through the pipe to the waste tank.

Is the hopper on the rear bath emptying?
What happened what you lengthened the cycle?

I watched the video with the sound turned up. The hopper is pressurizing before the flap closes to seal the hopper. That is what you are hearing. If air pressure and water pressure are correct according to the manual, and lengthening the cycle doesn’t correct this, then your next move is to remove the sequencing valve, disassemble and lube with light silicone grease. There are links to the manual in the documentation section, and Bare @"rheavn" has posted a thread on adjusting the toilet.

I now have 2 working bathrooms with Microphor toilets!

Turned out the rear one had the old sequencing valve with the new style spool inserted. That won't work. it's too tall and will not seuqence past flap valve actuation.

After disassembling, really learning what all the hoses and port do/go and with some training from the Mullaney folks I can fix or diagnose just about any Microphor issue.

I will keep calling them "Space Shuttle" toilets, or "Rube Goldberg" toilets...it's a measured precision-ish ballet to get one to work properly.

If anyone needs assistance, let me know!

Give me your tired, your weak flushing toilets yearning to be free.... Seriously, I'm looking for any spare parts or black porcelain (bowls and especially "tank" covers)

Are you going to keep your knowledge to yourself? Why not share with everyone what all the hoses and ports do, how the toilets are supposed to work, so people with similar problems may be able to fix their toilet(s).
