Tag axle - NeBob - 06-08-2018

Upon returning from our latest trip I accidentally bumped the tag axle switch to the up position. I immediately heard air coming from the axle area. Now when I start the unit as soon as it has pressure built up the air discharge can be heard. This does not immediately affect the main air system. My question is the tag axle switch is a three position switch. Does the bottom position deflate the axle and the upper position inflate it? I have not been under the coach yet but will do so this weekend. My understanding is there is a pressure gauge in the curb side engine housing. If this is the appropriate gauge it is inflating to around 100lbs which seems high.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Bob, my tag switch works as you have described - up on the switch adds air, down on the switch exhausts air.

Also, on my coach the air pressure gauge in the passenger rear engine compartment shows the pressure of the general air system. It is not specific to the tag bag pressure.i don't believe my tag axle pressure is adjustable by regulator as some are.

Thanks for info. My manual says the tag should be around 40lbs. Guess I'll keep looking for an indicator

After further investigation I have found that the air leak is not related to the tag axle switch. I am attaching a photo of the source of the leak. There is one of these valves located on the tag and one on the drive.
Would anyone know the name of this valve so I can try to find one locally.

Look for a small tag it will have the valve #,the tag could be attached though a bolt/screw
Most truck shops and truck parts places should be able to supply that valve

I believe the picture is showing an air brake relay. This relay is used to speed up the actuation of brakes that are far from the pedal valve.

Make sure the coach is cribbed.
Here is the part # you need, Haldex 102802. No need to buy the whole valve, just replace the center section.
You will be a Richard like contortionist putting it back in! (Credit: Richard Entrekin)
Take a set of straight circlip pliers to get it out. You need both arms free to get it back in. I rested my back on the driveshaft
and reached up to reinstall. if you have strong hands you can push it in far enough to compress the spring and squeeze the
circlip with the other. If not, put a deep socket with extension, big enough to go over the valve but small enough, for you to get the circlip back in.

Thanks for all the info. I have a local truck&trailer shop that has the kit and valve both. They also have the lifts to get it in the air so I can work on it.
